New or Returning to the Faith?

How do you find joy? The surest sign that God is alive in you is joy. As Jesus Himself said, He came that we might have life—and have it abundantly. Catholicism at its heart is not a “No.” It’s a “Yes!”

This is as true now as ever before. Christianity always has explosive power if we let it be itself. It is always transformative. Because at its heart, Catholicism is not a series of rules or institutions, but rather it’s a relationship with a real person—Jesus Christ. Jesus, whose name (which means “God saves”) is both His identity and His mission, saves us from our sins, and it is Jesus whom we encounter in His real presence at every Mass.

As Bishop Barron says, Catholicism is smart and beautiful, colorful and textured, it engages the mind and the heart and the body. It is the story of the whole world. It’s your story.

Are you new (or returning) to the Catholic Church? At St. Philip Neri, we’re eager to meet you and your family and to (re)introduce you to the Catholic faith, full of rich history and sacred tradition.

And check out this video from Bishop Robert Barron, in which he discusses the meaning and the drama of the Mass (begins around 3:14). We hope to see you soon!
